AmCham 2018 Thanksgiving Dinner Party
On Friday, November 16, 2018, AmCham Thanksgiving Dinner Party was successfully held at St. Regis Hotel Chengdu. There were nearly 150 guests in attendance, including Mr. Jim Mullinax, Consul General of the U.S. Consulate General in Chengdu and other officicers from commercial, economic, consulate, security and visa departments to share the functions of each department in turn. In addition, other foreign representatives and officials from Sichuan Provincial Government also attended the Thanksgiving dinner, such as Mr. Jang Jehak, Consul General of the Korean Consulate General in Chengdu; Ms. Catherine Rusby, Business Development Manager from New Zealand Trade and Enterprise Chengdu; Deputy Directors Ms. Weijin Wang and Mr. Ping Lu from Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce; Deputy Director Mr. Xing Zhao from Inward Invested Enterprises Appeal Center of Sichuan Provincial Government; Ms. Patty Yin, Chief of Cultural Exchange Department from Sichuan Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; Ms. Xuemei He, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Department from Sichuan Bureau of Expo Affaris; Ms. Jing Yang and Mr. Yudi Xie from Sichuan Commerce Development Center; Mr. Yang Yi, Deputy Director from Economic Cooperation Bureau of Sichuan Province; Mr. Jian Liu, Division Chief from Chengdu Investment Bureau; and Ms. Min Xiong, Deputy Division Chief from Office of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs. This talented group of individuals exchanged insights and ideas with friends from AmCham member companies.
Sinostage kicked the night off with their spectacular modern dance performance, followed by the MC introducing the history and significance of Thanksgiving. Benjamin Wang, Chairman of AmCham Southwest, and CG Jim Mullinax gave opening speeches to kick off the event. Mr. Benjamin Wang took the opportunity to express his sincere gratitude to all members and friends who have been supportive of AmCham Southwest throughout the years. He also introduced and welcomed the sponsors, consular officials and some government leaders at the event and thanked them for their effort in the business development of southwest region and their strong support for AmCham Southwest. CG Mullinax also gave his best wishes and shared his outlook for greater cooperation between China and the United States.
Then, other consular officials from the U.S. Consulate briefly introduced their departments. After Mr. Francis Peters, the Commercial Section Chief, made his concluding remarks, officials of the U.S. Consulate along with Sichuan government officials and Board of Governors (BoG) of AmCham took a group photo. Guests enjoyed the Thanksgiving turkey feast which was well-prepared by St. Regis Hotel. A fascinating excerpt of the Sichuan Opera “Bie Dong Guan Jing” was brought to the guests during dinner.
Mr. Charles Cheung and Mr. Jolly Ma, BoG Officers of AmCham Southwest, gave a general review of the administrate management and events hosted by AmCham during the past year respectively. The summary fully demonstrated the strong appeal and influence of AmCham as a resource platform. After that was the exciting and amusing magic show performed by the talented magician from Chengdu Feng & Shan Unlimited Illusions Co., Ltd.
The lucky draw brought the event to the climax. AmCham once again wants to thank all the prize sponsors for their generous support. Finally, the jazz band’s live show concluded the party with the perfect ending.
